Constructive Mind: A Story of Hope and Support in the Construction Industry

Joey, the founder of Constructive Mind, shares his inspiring story in this video, detailing the journey that led to the creation of this vital initiative. At 39 years old and hailing from Surrey, Joey's path includes a period in Australia and a battle with drug addiction and mental health challenges.

Early Struggles and the Path to Addiction

Joey recounts noticing addictive tendencies from a young age, including lying and people-pleasing behaviors, stemming from a traumatic upbringing. At 13-14, following difficult life events, he turned to drugs and alcohol, eventually developing a preference for cocaine, which he felt boosted his confidence and sociability.

A move to Australia, intended as an escape, proved that the problem was internal, leading to further struggles with addiction and its consequences.

The Birth of Constructive Mind

Drawing on his 17 years of experience in the construction industry, Joey founded Constructive Mind to support individuals facing mental health and addiction issues within the sector. This initiative addresses a critical need, as the construction industry shockingly has a suicide rate four times higher than any other industry.

A Mission of Support and Awareness

Constructive Mind is dedicated to providing support and raising awareness about mental health, addiction, and related health and safety issues in workplaces, educational institutions, and throughout the construction industry. Joey emphasizes the importance of early intervention and support, particularly for young people.

Joey plans to release more videos, including interviews with others who have faced similar challenges, continuing to build a community of support and understanding.
